PORTISHEAD TREE PLANTING
17 NOVEMBER 2022

Rosie Thayer welcomed everyone and briefly explained what HMD is about and the relevance of the tree.  Councillor, Patricia (Paddy) Sterndale, spoke about keeping memories alive and referred to her grandfather and father both of whom were Jewish and South African; the former had been a successful big band leader during WW2.  Councillor Sterndale then completed the planting of the tree

Donovan Hawley read the Kaddish (Jewish mourning prayer) in Hebrew and this was followed by Rosie thanking everyone for their participation.

Photographs were taken by Ric Mellis and Peter, from Glendale, made all of the preparations for the tree planting. Our thanks also go to Councillor, Bob Bull, who fixed the plaque to its mounting and metal stave.
